Analog Devices Inc. HMC396 HBT Amplifier

Analog Devices HMC396 is designed as a GaAs InGaP Heterojunction Bipolar Transistor (HBT) Gain Block MMIC DC to 8GHz amplifier. Designers can use the HMC396 amplifier either as a cascadable 50Ω gain stage or to drive the LO of HMC mixers with up to +16dBm output power. Requiring the only 56mA from a +5V supply, the HMC396 amplifier offers 12dB of gain and an output IP3 of +30. HMC396's Darlington feedback pair reduces sensitivity to normal process variations. The Darlington feedback pair also provides excellent gain stability over temperature while requiring a minimal number of external bias components. Designers can easily integrate the HMC396 amplifier into Multi-Chip-Modules (MCMs) because of its small (0.22mm²) size. All of the data is contained on the chip in a 50Ω test fixture connected via 0.025mm diameter wire bonds of minimal length 0.5mm.
